It's that time of year again. A peak of sunshine has us hopeful for warmer days, and most of us realize it's time to get our butts in gear for beachwear season.

 

That's where we come in.

 

As always, we aim to teach. The trainers at RT Health Company have helped thousands (yes, thousands!) of people reach their goals through personal training, group training, classes, online coaching, and through programs like these. Included in the program are several resources to ensure your success – not just over 8 weeks – but in the long run. This challenge is NOT a quick fix, but a kick start with a fun incentive!

So what is it?

 

This is an 8-week fitness challenge that includes all the resources you need to be successful on your journey.

You will never see us vouch for extremely low calorie diets or two-a-day workout plans that you often see in transformation challenges. THIS IS NOT A WEIGHT-LOSS CHALLENGE! We recognize that there are so many goals when it comes to physical fitness (including strength and stamina as well as overall body composition). Elements such as mentality, life change, and participation are assessed as well.

NUTRITION GUIDE which includes basic information on each of the three macronutrients (carbs, fats, and proteins). We'll teach you how to track your calories, and how to determine an appropriate range for you and your goals. We also include a meal plan structure for 4 different daily calorie intake levels with a list of appropriate carbs, fats, and proteins (vegetarian/vegan options included) so you can plug them in and create your own "meal plan"! This method serves as an educational tool as well as flexibility as it ensures you never get bored of your meals! We also plan to share tips and recipes (from us as well as from other challengers) throughout the challenge.

For this challenge, you get the choice between 5 personalized exercise programs to better serve your specific goals. *Keep in mind that exercise programs are personalized (meaning you get a choice depending on your goal) but they are not custom (ie no individualization beyond that choice). You will be responsible for finding alternative exercises if need be (but we, as well as your fellow challengers, are always here to help!).

This program is suitable for someone just starting out, who's MAIN goal is to lose weight (10+lbs). For this program you will need access to a commercial gym with access to cardio equipment, free weights (dumbbells/bars and plates), leg press, squat rack (or smith machine - but none of the programs include smith machine specific exercises), adjustable cable tower, various strength training machines, a small resistance band, a bosu ball, a TRX, etc.

No resistance training experience is required for this beginner program. Progressively throughout the program (through exercise progression and the use of instructional videos on the app), you can expect to learn how to safely use machines and free weights.

If you require a gym membership, we are offering short term memberships (8 weeks - from day 1 to the end of the challenge) at a discounted rate. You will see this option when you sign up!

Beginner gym WEIGHT LOSS program

 

 

This program is suitable for someone just starting out, who's main goal isn't necessarily to lose weight but wants to change their body composition. For this program you will need access to a commercial gym with access to cardio equipment, free weights (dumbbells/bars and plates), leg press, squat rack (or smith machine - but none of the programs include smith machine specific exercises), adjustable cable tower, various strength training machines, a small resistance band, a bosu ball, a TRX, etc.

Those selecting this program should be comfortable with a variety of free-weight exercises including back squat, deadlift, etc.

If you require a gym membership, we are offering short term memberships (8 weeks - from day 1 to the end of the challenge) at a discounted rate. You will see this option when you sign up!

intermediate/advanced gym WEIGHT LOSS program

This program is suitable for both beginner and intermediate challengers. Most exercises are for time rather than reps, which makes it simple to intensify or modify movements to suit your exercise level. For this program you will need a mini band, a set of dumbbells (10lb dumbbells is a good place to start), a set of ankle weights (5lb each is a good place to start), a set of sliders, and a hard bench/box/chair that is safe to stand on. We sell home workout kits at RT Health Company if you need one.

Q: How much does it cost to sign up?

A: Its costs $99+HST to enrol in the challenge with no add-ons. For an additional $49.99+hst, you can add unlimited classes at RT Health Company over the entire course of the challenge, and for an additional $99.99+hst, you can add an 8 week membership at Elora Fitness. More on this under "WHAT'S INCLUDED".

Q: Why is this challenge so much more affordable than it has been in the past?

A: Good question! The reason stems from our desire to help more people reach their goals; we aren't offering any customization this time which allows us to do so. We've also removed two-way messaging for challengers - all contact will be through the Facebook community which we think will increase engagement (and therefore motivation) among challengers!

Q: Who can join the challenge?

A: Anyone in North America over the age of 18 (anyone under 18 requires parental permission).

 

Q: how do you choose the winner?

A: No matter your fitness goal, you are eligible to win the grand prize. The winner is chosen based on many aspects including but not limited to improved body composition, mindset/life change, strength, stamina, effort, and participation.

Q: Do I need any equipment in order to complete the home based program?

A: You will need to have a mini band, a set of dumbbells (10lb dumbbells is a good place to start), a set of ankle weights (5lb each is a good place to start), a set of sliders, and a hard bench/box/or chair that is safe to stand on. We sell home workout kits at RT Health Company if you need one.

A: No, sorry! This is a promotional offer for new members! 

Q: I already do classes and I'm in the middle of a 10 pack. Can I put it on hold and take advantage of the unlimited classes promotion?

A: Yes! Details on signing up for classes as a challenger will be emailed to those who purchase this add-on.

Q: What if I'm already an online client?

A: No problem! You have a couple of options. You can continue with your custom online workouts (if you finish your package before the end of the challenge you can either renew your online training or switch to the workouts provided with the challenge) OR you can put your online training on hold, use the workouts provided with the challenge, and start back up after. Keep in mind that if you choose the latter, your workout program will no longer be custom and two-way chat will be disabled until you continue your online training program.

Q: I don't have a Facebook account. Will that be an issue?

A: If you don't wish to be a part of the Facebook community and don't want to participate in mini challenges for the chance to win prizes, it's no issue! However, we have no way of including you in those if you don't have a Facebook account.

Q: I am vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/paleo... will the nutrition guide work for me?

A: YES! We include lots of examples and foods to choose from for your carbs, fats, and proteins. Chances are, someone else who joins the challenge will have a similar eating-style as you which provides the perfect opportunity to connect and share recipes and tips!

Q: Which exercise program should I choose?

A: When deciding, ask yourself these questions:

1. "Where will I be working out?" (home or gym),

2. "What is my experience level?" (beginner or intermediate-advanced)

3: "What is my main goal?" (weight loss or overall body composition) *the difference in weight loss and body composition programs is the amount/duration/type of cardio. Both programs are resistance-focused (which is ideal for both fat loss as well as body composition!)

Q: Can I purchase the program and not do the "challenge"?

A: Sure! Just make your selection and purchase as normal. When you sign up, you'll receive an email from us that includes two forms. You MUST fill out the first form (this is how we know which program to put you on), but the second form (which is where we collect "before" pictures and measurements) is optional. Keep in mind that if we don't receive both of your forms, you won't be eligible to win the grand prize (but you are welcome to "compete" in mini challenges!). Also keep in mind that you will be removed from the app after the 8-week challenge along with other members (unless you continue with online training afterwards).

Q: Can I join the challenge but do my own thing in terms of diet and exercise?

A: Sure! Just make your selection and purchase as normal. When you sign up, you'll receive an email from us that includes two forms. You MUST fill out both forms in order to be eligible for the grand prize. You will still receive all of the resources we provide, but whether you use them - that's up to you!

Q: What if I have an injury or limitation?

A: The 8-week workout plans provided with the challenge are personalized, but not custom. This means there is no customization beyond specific categories (you have the choice between 5 different workout programs - but everyone who chooses [for example] BEGINNER, GYM, WEIGHT LOSS will receive the same program) - so you are responsible for determining your own limitations & finding alternate exercises. Chances are, one of the other challengers has similar issues or limitations which is a great opportunity to connect and share tips. Of course, we are always here to help.
